About

Hey there.

My name is Lisa Burscheidt, and here is where to go to find some info about who I am and what I do.

I am German by birth and studied at the University of Münster, where I gained an M.A. in English Studies in 2007. While I was studying, I was also working in the library of the English Department part-time, which got me interested in libraries. Since the German librarianship system is quite rigidly structured and hard to get into, I looked for alternatives. That is how I came to work in England.

At the moment, I am a Graduate Trainee at the Albert Sloman Library at the University of Essex in Colchester. Next year, I hope to go on to do a Master’s degree in Librarianship/Library and Information Science. So far, I have decided to apply to Loughborough and University College Dublin, possibly also UCL.

I am a member of CILIP, the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. Specifically, my branch is East of England, and I am trying to get more involved in my Special Interest Groups, which are UC&R, Career Development, and International Library and Information.
